I have been thinking about volentering at my local animal shelter,Doe's any one know if they offer paying job's? Even if they don't I still would love to volenter! Doe's anyone else volenter?

People who keep there dogs out side all day should not have dogs.

I personally do not volunteer at my local shelter... YET! one of my teachers at school (i am becoming a vet tech) is a vet tech at my local shelter. I start school on Nov 16 and i can ask her any questions you need/want to know and get back to you, if you want. Just send me a private message or post all of our questions on here and i will ask her when i see her on the 16th.

it all depends on if they are hiring. Volunteering is a great way to show them how didicated and what a hard worker you are. I know at the shelter in my city it is usually the volunteers that get hired when they do offer a position.

I volunteer for the fundraising events my shelter has.  I don't think I could actually work the shelter because I would cry every day!  My shelter does have certain administrative position that do pay but it's pretty close to minimum wage so the people who do that are really dedicated and definately not there for the money.  As for volunteering there's lots of stuff you can do like walking the dogs.  The dogs wear an "adopt me" tag so people know they can adopt them and it's great for the dogs to be out and about around people and getting exercise.

I've never volunteered at a shelter, but I've volunteered at Petsmart Adoptions.
My understanding is most people are volunteers... and if you get paid it's usually later after you've volunteered for awhile.  I've known a few people say that from around here but in all honesty Idk if that's just our local shelters or if that's a thing that happens all around

I volunteer every so often at the animal shelter and find it a very rewarding experience! I love being with the animals and meeting all of them. I treat them as my own pets and became very closely attached to them. I advise everybody to volunteer at the animal shelter! It's also fun! Just make sure your a pet-lover! Though, if you weren't a pet-lover, you probably wouldn't be on this website!

I volunteer about twice a week. I'm sick this week, though.
