I'm pretty sure my dog considers my room hers...and she's very possessive of it. If anybody opens the door she runs right to the room and growls at them. And if she's on the bed, there is no way somebody can come in the room without getting growled at. I would really like to get her to stop growling at people but I don't know how! Ideas, please?

also, I would shoosh her of the bed, tell her NO, and if she growls make her understand that this is YOUR ROOM, not the dogs, if she does not quit , put her out of the room, repeat that, until she gets it, but you have to be consistent.
DO not tolerate any growling or jumping on the bed anymore.
You make her understand, that you are in charge not the dog.
good luck.

| Good answer DM! Dogs are very simple creatures. We create all the complexity that we see in them and their behavior... SImply put, if you let the dog boss you around and dictate what and where is his, he will own everything! YOU make the rules, not the dog.

America is a large friendly dog in a very small room. Every time it wags its tail, it knocks over a chair. - Arnold Toynbee (1889-1975)

Ideas, please?Basically, she is being protective over the room when you enter or other people enter? It is important to find out that bit of info before I give my answer.

has nothing to do with being territorial, it is a humans room, not the dogs.
The dog needs to understand and learn, that is is only allowed in there, as long as the dog is behaved.
Which the dog is not.
So, nip it in the butt, before she has more problems on her hands, meaning the dog will actually attack and or bite someone because he /he does consider the room hers.
I see the dog as a liability , so she needs to get a handle on it ASAP.

simple do not allow her on the bed at all, aggression is one thing I will not tolerate with dogs. My dogs only get on our furniture if I say they can. They except that with no problems. I am curious if she growls over your room, how is she with toys and food? I am betting if she is being possesive over one thing she is either possesive over other things or she soon will be if she keeps getting her way in the room.
