First I would start by verbally berating him until all shreds of self esteem and dignity have vanished...

why do you want to put clothes on your dog? poms are well equiped to handle cold weather, so they really dont need clothes. You dont want to over heat by putting too much clothes. If you must dress something up I would get one of those build-a-bear workshop dogs.

It was for a group (ROMP) that advocated for off leash parks and responsible ownership. ANYWAY! One of the members had a little Irish Terrier named Finn. He though it would be cute to put Finn in shorts, complete w/ a hole for his tail. Trouble is, no hole for poop! Here's Finn, proudly strutting about in his nifty shorts, complete with a nifty turd sliding down the right leg...

I keep my poodle's hair kinda short so she needs to wear sweaters in cold weather. I never had to train her to wear them. She seems to enjoy it. If you do put clothes on your dog, make sure they fit well and are not too tight.

But she just got her fur cut short, and she likes to wear banndanas so I thought that she also might like clothes.

show the dog how ridiculous he will look in a gay looking pom pom, that all the dogs in the neighborhood will point there paw at him , neuter his self esteem, just so the human can feel good about himself, showing of to her friends how * like cute , like adorable and like lets put him in a carry on bag and take him to the mall, like he is sooo cute*.
Please it is a dog, not a stuffed animal or a doll.
Treat it like a dog, not like a human.
You are not doing your dog any favors for humanizing him, geesh.
Our Dogs are not spoiled,we're just well trained

Are you saying that it is gay to put sweaters on a dog when it is cold? I don't see anything wrong with it. I won't let my dog shiver all day.

silverpoodle88 (10/15/2009) Are you saying that it is gay to put sweaters on a dog when it is cold? I don't see anything wrong with it. I won't let my dog shiver all day.Nothing wrong with helping out a dog that doesn't have the fur to stay warm in cold weather. My Dobermanns had jackets when we were in MN, they'd freeze their butts off in that -20 degree weather. But they only needed them when out for extended periods, not for just going out to potty, etc. They wore them mostly when we did training for an hour or two. But that doesn't appear to be the case here. This seems to more a case of 'dress up', for cuteness, whathaveyou. See- "Likes to wear bandanas". Besides which, Poms are well equipped for short jaunts in cold weather (by cold I mean below freezing). They don't need the help unless you shave 'em or have them out for long periods. The OP shaved the dog because she thought it was cute, now she want to dress it up... Not my dog, not my business, but IMO I'd never dress up a dog, or put clothes on a dog, other than to help the dog stay warm in extreme cases. I mean, it's a dog, not a toy, let it be a dog... and trust me, they don't enjoy the clothes... They enjoy the attention.
