I have a pom named pearl, and I am having a fox clip done. Not because I can not manege her long fur, just cause it's cute! Is that ok?

People who keep there dogs out side all day should not have dogs.

I guess,  it wont hurt the dog, but why buy a pom just to cut its fur off??

I don't see a problem with it. I sometimes try new haircuts on my poodle.

I don't know where you live, but be careful about cutting the hair too short. Your dog could get pretty cold in winter.

lol! noo that's not cruel at all.  I dont see a problem with it

the difference is poodles have hair not fur they need to be kept trimmed. Poms on the other hand are a double coated breed, it really bugs me when people shave them because the fur not only keeps them warm in winter but protects them in the summer as well.

I agree.

Double coated breeds should not be cut at all. It ruins the coat. and in turn will not do its job or keeping the dog warm AND cool.

I guess I won't be winning any popularity contests here. I shave my Cairn except in the winter and I don't strip him, just a clip or trim. The receptionist at the groomer's has a fit when I have it done... Meh, she'll get over it and live. People are just so darn critical sometimes.

We used to give our Sheltie a fox cut..it was adorable. Did you have pic of your pom?

EDIT: Never mind, I just saw the pic. Omgosh, how cute!
