I'm a new dog owner, and I'm trying to figure out which breed is best.  I want a smaller dog that is quiet and doesn't shed constantly.  I was thinking about the Pug and French Bulldog, but I've heard that they're both on the expensive side.  I'm just curious if what I've heard is true, and which dog breed would be better in my circumstance.

Thanks!!

A dog from a reputable breeder is going to cost you, if you want a healthy character sound dog.

What the quiet is concerned, dogs bark to alert, do let others know , that is there territory, that is communication .

The only breeds that do not shed is a Schnauzer and a poodle, the other will loose hair , that is normal.

just because a breed is short haired doesnt mean less shedding. Actually some short haired dogs can shed more than the long haired ones, plus the short hairs are harder to clean up!

here are some low shedding breeds (no breed is non shedding they all loose hair usually it gets caught in their coat so they dont fall to the ground.)

Dogs from shelters and rescues tend to cost less than dogs from breeders, if cost is a concern.

No dog is cheap, unless you are very lucky.  At some point you WILL have a large vet bill... Rover ate a pair of panty hose, Vet.  Rover was running on the kitchen floor and slipped and now he's limping and whining, vet.  Owner forgot to crate Rover when they left for work and Rover ate the leather sofa and puked all over the new carpet, furniture store and carpet cleaner.  It goes on and on and on.

Just like a boat is a hole in the water you throw money into, so is a dog a hole in your heart.

Havanese don't shed either. Hairless Chinese Cresteds, Xolos, Mexican Hairless, Yorkies, Maltese and Shih Tzus don't shed or have minimal shedding.
