ok it is my brothers dog, but she has boned to me. she is a 7 week old pit bull terrier. My brother will not help whatsoever, with training her. The problem is how do i get her to stop biting my fingers, and to play with her toys.

when she bites give a stern growley uhuh and turn away. you can also use a spray deterrent on your hands, like bitter apple

I would give Luca a toy everytime he tried to bite me and then ignore him.

Hi! As a Pit Bull owner, I better put my two cents in. Pittie puppies, like all others, have an urge to chew. Get her a hard Nylabone, and each time she tries chewing your fingers give her the bone. If she is like my male, who drops the bone and goes back to my fingers, try a soft plush toy. Some dogs hate hard toys, while other love them. Find out which ones your pup likes. If that doesn’t work, walk away each time she starts nibbling. Usually, I don’t mind very light puppy nipping, but when it gets to the point were it starts hurting, I yelp (yes, like a dog) and walk away. I know yelping sounds ridiculous, but it works!

your brother wont train his own dog? thats not ok...

when the pup starts biting on you, i would do like the others say and give her a toy as the only option. I would not, however, give her something you dont want her ever chewing on- like socks or shoes or...

theres no point in starting a bad habit you will have to break later. try to think long term with her; even though shes so cute, is this how you want her behaving later? for example if she jumps up on your leg, and you pick her up and give her attention, thats reinforcing jumping up... start good habits now!

im not implying youre doing promoting bad behavior, im just saying its easy to forget the long tem big picture. good luck!

cheers

If you think dogs can't count, try putting three dog biscuits in your pocket and then giving Fido only two of them.  ~Phil Pastoret

dont do the " if the puppy bits your fingers take your hand away and give it a toy or bone" it doesnt work.

i have tryed this way many of times with the puppies i have had, and every time i have try it has never worked..

they think you ar rewarding them for bitting your fingers.

i have learned that when the puppy bits your fingers just say ATT and get up and walk away every time she/he trys to bit your fingers and after awhile the puppy will understand that your not going to play with it if it bits your fingers.

or if the puppy gets to bitty use a water spray bottle it doesnt hurt them in any way and it does work but dont do it to much because then the puppy will be scaryed of you. just alittle spray and then walk away.

i hope this is helpful.:]

if this isn't love then you are blind

Sorry, in disagreement. You probably were not doing it correctly. When the puppy nips, you use a vocal correction (Aht or No, whatever you use.) When the puppy is looking at you give it the bone, not right after it was chewing you! Give a pause then give the bone.
