Every dog in my city seems to be perfect. My neighbors dog is so perfect her owner can trust her off-leash by the streets, even though there are lots of cats around.. Anyways, a lot of dogs are well behaved here and basically NO ONE listens to any leash laws, at least on the many trails around here. Well, anyways, dogs in my area are good at coming.

Not my dog. She is actually okay at coming when called. If there are no other dogs around. Her word for come, is "OY!!" Don't ask why, I said that on accident and she got all excited so..

Can anyone tell me how to get her to be trusted enough not to a) bark at other dogs and usually get so excited it ends up in a fight

and b) make her not just run away when she sees another dog. It is so embarrassing dragging her away from someone who is trying to watch the game, while her pug is screaming like a banshee and trying to eat my dog, whos barking and freaking out, leash trailing on the ground.... You know the story.

PLEASE TELL ME HOW TO MAKE HER STOP!

                           yours!!!

all I can say is practise, practise, practise!!!

first make sure her recall is 100% without distractions (off leash) then slowly have her work around distractions. have a friend bring 1 dog practise the recall with the 1 dog around (on leash). give high value rewards for this. next progress to 2 then 3 dogs around ect.... then start back with 1 dog have her off leash for the recall.

another training exercise I like to do with my dogs is; I will say their name then treat over and over again soon your dog will come running everytime you say her name. as with any training you slowly phase out treats

oh also dont always make the recall the end of fun. several times while your dog is out playing call her to you then send her back out to play.

Nobody's dog is perfect....and that I know as a fact. Maybelle is the same way...her recall is horrible. She'll only come back if you have food. But my advice to you is keep working on it. Start out with no distractions, when she gets that, have a person or two standing near you, and when she masters that, add a few more distraction and so on and so on on. Also, if yer dog is food motivated, always keep some treats on you, just in case. The same if she's toy motivated...

Good luck!

Thanks for the advise ya'll Yesterday Luna was on her log-line at the park and a lady with 3 dogs was walking by... She came when I called YAY... But then again I had her favorite treats, she had already met one of the dogs, and one was making this horrible sound, like a banshee... Some hound-cry. It was hilarious lol

That is one mistake when you want your dog good when off lease, if you kept doing that everytime there were deer then she'll chase after them and more than likely wont come when called. Everydog I have owned has been trained to listen to everything I say off leash, I start when there very little, take them everywhere and without a leash on them. It doesnt matter what is around or going on when I have my dogs off lease they stay right by my side unless told they can go play or check it out, its easier to show than to explain in words how to get your dogs to that point. But just work with her everyday and make it fun and give her, her favorite treats when done what was asked. Its not something thats going to happen over night itll take a little bit longer because shes used to not listening when called and theres distractions. I wish you the best of luck and let us know on her progress.

LOL!I know how sometimes it can be tempting My dog has the same problem about coming when she's called some days she's good some days she's terrible!I let her off leash every day at the park (Except when there's lots of people). And when she's tired she'll come right away!Buuuuuuuut when she's really excited......Yeah LOL.My best bet would just be training your dog alot while she's ON the leash.Oh and by the way turkey hot dogs work great for dog treats! My dog absolutely loves them!

That just made me think, my dog goes CRAZY for blue dog bakery treats! They smell strong and are very healthy but not too expensive. You know there's no: "Dgfdgfdiohnlk acid" lol! from looking at the ingredients, Im pretty sure humans could eat it- my dog ADORES them.

unless you are 100 % sure, your dog will heel at all times, and ignore all other dogs, do not let him off leash.
This will bring you and the other dog owners problems , financially and more, something you do not need.

I suggest getting a 30 foot lead and practice.
