I just received what I was told is a pregnant 5 month old. I am going to the vet this week to get verification. My question is: Can this be possible and will the mother know what to do being a pup herself. I also think she maybe a couple of months older but she definetly appears to be pregnant. Please advise

yes it is possible! I would have the vet do a x-ray to find out how many and large the pups are. She could need a c-section to deliver the pups. Since she is so young she might not know how to properly care for her pups I would make sure you have bottles and milk on stand by just in case. You could also have the vet show you how to tube feed. I would suggest you go out and get a book on dog breeding.

Another option is a spay-abort.

I would not do the spay/abort (Sorry, its my pro-life mentality) The mom will just need extra care and a c-section and you may have to care for the pups afterwards I would have the mother spayed.

I'm pro-life as well, but as this dog is so young, I feel that this could cause problems and if there is no one who can adequately care for the pups, a spay-abort may be the best option.
I don't like abortions for dogs or people, but sometimes it may be necessary if the mother isn't healthy enough to have a good chance at surviving the pregnancy. I do feel that dogs are a little different than people, however, and though you'd never see me recommending an abortion to a human. I don't have much trouble recommending it with dogs, however. Depends upon the case.

I second the previous poster's answer.   This pregnancy could very well kill this puppy.  It is also very unhealthy for a puppy that is still growing to be pregnant.  The pregnancy and later lactation will rob the mom of very needed nutrition for her physically growing body.  I know it sounds mean, but it is really the kindness thing to do.

Wow that is really early and I never knew that a 5 month old dog could be pregnent. But one thing that you don't want to do now is to spay your dog or else that is gonna kill all of her puppies and that would stink and it would also be sad and rude!

Animals are not to be treated rude but to be treated nice and respectedly. I love animals!!

It's better than the mother dying simply because her body was not yet up to the task for nurturing and whelping pups.

I don't  the puppies should die. The mother simply needs a C-Section and they all stay alive! It is like aborting puppies, getting the female spayed!

But, is the owner prepared to hand-feed the puppies ever two hours am and pm for at least two weeks and then ever four hours?

Christina you are the one that developed RCBA. Think of it... I mean really is it kind to let more unwanted, poorly bred puppies, most likely mixed, with no history of genetic disorders face this world? I think not... there are thousands of mixed breed puppies... some healthy and that have happy homes... but more end up with horror stories such as being cramped in shelters, euthanized and those that face seizures, hip dysplasia, and eye disorders. These puppies hopefully will end up being an end to another line of unwanted, unloved puppies.
