Our pregnant female doxie is just being a pill about eating. She is on puppy kibbles (IAMS) she hates Blue Buffalo and Eukanuba, which is what we feed our other dogs. We have mixed canned food with kibbles. We've tried cottage cheese, eggs, meat etc. She turns her nose up to everything! We have gotten her to eat some cooked fish and brisket. But we think she should be eating better and we're worried about the puppies!

We did have whip worms about two weeks ago and she was on a special diet from the vet and she and our other dogs have all been treated for them. But since that episode, she's gotten very very picky!

Any suggestions.

Heya! This is Christina putting her two cents in! Knowing Strawberry, she is a picky eater from the start, so if you want to feed her kibble I would wet it, heat it up, and let it sit there for about thirty minutes or until it is soft enough for you to mush up. Then mix in ¼ to ½ can of Blue Buffalo canned food or Evo. (You can find Evo at Pet Supplies Plus) I don’t know a dog yet who won’t eat Evo.

Oh, and by the way, if she were my dog I would feed her chicken (preferable boneless chicken breast) rice and veggies, as well as supplements like Ester C (PetSmart) and Solid Gold Seameal (PetCo) It is easy to prepare and I make a bunch of it and store it up. I would feed her this while she is pregnant and then if you want you can go back to kibble once she is finished nursing puppies. I personally don't feed puppy kibble to pregnant dogs, because it does not help the puppies, and it is NOT GOOD for your female. Just a recommendation...
