I just recently got a baby (7 weeks) goldendoodle as an addition to my 4 year old Labradoodle. At first my Labradoodle (Luna) didn't like the puppy, but she warmed up to her some over time. The puppy (Sol) LOVES Luna and always wants to play with her. So earlier today, I decided to give Luna a bath so I put Sol in her small crate. (Which she is usually fine with with the occasional wine) But after I was done grooming Luna I let her out of the bathroom, she went over to Sol's crate to check on her and Sol FREAKED OUT!!! She SCREAMED and hid in the corner of her crate. When I looked at her she screamed louder. Very unusual. So I shewed Luna away and opened the door to Sol's crate. At first she refused to come out. But I eventually coaxed her out and found she was shaking. This was very bizarre and she wasn't being territorial. Could someone tell me what could be going wrong?

My best guess is the crate makes her feel vulnerable. So she's already in a confined position and feeling uptight and then your older dog comes in. Your dog has just been bathed, so she smells weird and your pup doesn't recognize her scent.

My best guess is your pup simply anticipated Luna as a strange dog, who was coming at her while she was confined and in a vulnerable position. I think if you just let Sol out of the crate so he can get a chance to sniff Luna after a bath and also have the room to run away then you won't experience anymore episodes like this.

I don't think so. Luna has approached her in her crate before. As for the smell, she was also scared of me and besides... she loves meeting new dogs? This is kinda weird. Fear is still going on, even out of crate. I'm 99% sure there was no fight between the two as I've been with them both.

I realize this is not really a laughing matter, but I'm not trying to be funny, so don't get mad at me if it seems like I'm laughing about it. Its just maybe Sol got jealous? OMG- I know I'm immature.  Hope you find out what happened, and I hope it doesn't happen again!!!

I thought about the jealous thing a little bit more. So if Sol was already frustarated about being in her crate while you were still there then maybe she just like blew up because Luna was out and she wasn't, but no that couldn't be because she was scared of  Luna. Well I understand you've got quite the mystery on your hands. And Luna didn't do anything to provoke her? THINKING HARD!!!! GET BaCK to you later
