Hi I have a 2 year old Miniature Pinscher. She is very healthy and happy. I had my dog recently on the INNOVA dog food. Well I have been doing some research and wanted to try her on the Wellness Super5Mix small breed. I am in the process now of switching her over gradually. She loves it! With the INNOVA, she did have a shiny coat but her poo smells bad and is sometimes soft. I only feed her all natural treats like Dogswell and I do offer her fresh fruits and veggies. I was told that Wellness is in the top 5 for the best dog foods. I just want her poo to get hard and not so smelly. With so many recalls out there you have to be really careful with what you feed your dog. I think this is a great food the Wellness but I wanted to see what others thought. I just picked a few other dog foods that I noticed others use. Any thoughts are appreciated. I am also going to introduce her  to the Wellness canned food after the gradual change over.

Yes, Wellness if a really good brand. I don't feed it to my dog, I feed it to my cats and they are picky but actually eat it!! My dog eats Halo which is really great also.

Kaylee gets TOTW Wetlands blend and is really enjoying it. I've even been able to ween her off the canned dog food I was mixing in with the Diamond as she was getting a bit too chunky. She has skin allergies so she can't eat anything with wheat in it.

I'd say Wellness is the best choice of the ones that were listed.

INNOVA and Canidae are great formulas, but are rich foods. Not all dogs will tolerate such rich food.

Iams has by-products and chemical preservaties in it for the most part. So, please don't let "chicken" as the first ingredient on some of the formulas fool you. You will also see "meals" like corn meal, lamb meal, etc... in their food. "Meals" can contain just about anything.

As for Nutro, it depends on the formula. Their regular formula's first ingredient is a "meal" like chicken or beef meal. Plus, their regular formula also contains chemical preservatives. Their Natural Choice formulas are a little better. Meat is the first ingredient, however, they still contain chemical preservatives. Nutro Ultra is their holistic formula and I'm terribly disappointed in it. It has lots of "meals" (chicken, lamb, salmon) and, just like the other formulas, also chemical preservatives.

Don't know much about Premium Edge to really comment on that. However, a quick glance at their ingredients tells me they'd be a definite step up from Iams and Nutro.

I don't do dry dog foods, but if I did use one it would be Blue Buff, Orijen or Taste of the Wild.

Orijen is a good one. Taste Of The Wild is new to me though.

Isn't the price pretty comparable to Timberwolf Organics?
