I'm a Narnia fan and I like Albert Payson Terhune's SunnyBank Collie stories, so I combined "Dawn Treader" with "Gray Dawn" and got "Gray Dawntreader". I can him Treader for short.

Our good friend picked Kota Bear for us. She turned out to be a real bear to-big and muscular, haha.

And old trainer of mine had a dog named Snorty. That's pretty much an obvious one. xD

I picked Samson just because I liked it.  There's no story behind it lol.

My cat's have stories behind their names, but not Samson

Samson, wishing you were here....but never giving up hope.

dogbuddy (6/1/2009)
hello,

i named my puppy Chance because he looks like Chance from the movie Homeward Bound

Aww! I love the movie "Homeward Bound"...When I was about 6 I used to cry everytime at the end.

We didn't name Oliver, "Oliver" for any specific reason, we just thought of it!

The only boy in my life is my dog. ♥

Oliver...a cairn terrier / shih tzu cross

It's wierd how everyone has different ways of naming their dogs.

Cerys is so named because we got her when we were on holiday in Wales(UK) and Cerys means love. And she is such a sweet thing

Cara was a hard one to choose. We went through books and everyone in the family made suggestions and we decided before we went to see her at the breeders that it would be Cara or Lola and which ever she suited best that would be the one. Then we decided when we saw her. She's still learning her name though coz we have only had her for four days lol. It was only after we got her that we descovered that Cara means Friend.

Love them both <33

My mutt's name is Hercules. I'm a big fan of mythology, so I started there. Lots of cool names in the myths.

I didn't want to name him after a god because I thought it would give him attitude. I started looking at heroes and realized it doesn't get much better than Hercules.

Then again, Hercules is the son of Zeus, so I'm not sure I'm so clever after all.

We planned ahead to pick up Luna at an adoption center in Hueston. At the time her name was Jessica and we wanted to change it. I voted Luna but my parents liked Tempest and, wow, STUKA!

On the way to pick her up we saw a truck. On the back was, in large, bold letters, "Luna"   After that there wasn't a lot of arguing, she was called Lunasince the second we picked her up.

                   My dog is smarter than

                           yours!!!

Daisy already came with the name, and i didn't feel like changing it. (:

I was a BIG Lion King fan back then (still am! One of the best movies ever!)  and so Simba was an obviose choice to pick.

 Our newest pup, Daisy!

We still miss you Bandito.Always in our hearts and prayers*****

i grew up on the mississippi and miss it. when i went to the pound to pick out a pup i originally wanted a female (family pets had historically been females... little did I know...) and was hoping to name her "terra" as in "earth". I saw a big lab teenager in a pen laying down calmly with his sister climbing all over him. i took him out to play and he was very interactive but still calm. the pound employee had never seen him do that before. He was so sweet and lovey, and a half hour later, mine! Rivers in my mind are big and powerful and can transform the landscape in which they reside. That describes my River to a "t!"

If you think dogs can't count, try putting three dog biscuits in your pocket and then giving Fido only two of them.  ~Phil Pastoret
