i love Pitts!
i cant say i have ever been really afraid of any dog i have came across. To me its not just a certain breed that is aggressive, its the owners that make thier dogs that way. its not the dogs fault.

Love them! The only breed I am interested in owning. Smart, beautiful, power/strength, muscle mass, heart of a warrior, and loves his or her owner till death. What more could be wanted in a dog?

| Let me ask your opinion on something. Do you believe that "power" breeds like pitbulls, dobermans and german shepherds require stronger pack leaders? I mean, really just about anyone can own a golden retreiver, but i don't think just anyone should own a pitbull. Do you think that a pack leader who is a little wishy-washy about discipline can make a good pitbull owner? My daughter's boyfriend just got one, and I'm a little ambivilent about his owning one, because he can't even make her min-pin come when he wants her to. Do you feel a pitbull is potentially more volitile than say a golden? If a pitbull becomes untrustworthy as an adult, is it solely the owners fault? Do they have a predisposition for agressiveness?

Yes, Pit Bulls are definitely not for everyone. Neither are Pugs, Collies, Corgis, and Olde English Bulldogges. No breed is right for just anyone.
Pit Bulls are high-energy dogs, they require quite a bit of physical and mental exercise. (I'm not sure how they are when it comes to responding to training, though I do know that just about any dog will walk all over you if you let him.)
This is why one must choose a breed that fits them, based on exercise and grooming needs, personality, etc. Or any breed, really.
According to "Breeding a Litter: The Complete Book of Prenatal and Postnatal Care" by Beth J. Finder Harris, many experts feel that temperament is only 10% genetic and 90% learned. While the percentage is debatable, one thing is for sure to me: temperament is more learned than it is inherited. So, yes, when a dog attacks someone, it is a very real probability that the fault is on that of his owners and/or former owners. Whether the problem was caused by choosing the wrong breed, lack of proper training, lack of socialization, or a combination of these, how a dog is raised and treated greatly affects his temperament.
APBTs can be dog-aggressive, which is why socialization is doubly important for them as pups. But they were not bred for human-aggression, and many well-raised Pit Bulls get along with other animals.

Do they have a predisposition for agressiveness? They are actually easier to train than some strains of Golden Retriever, believe me I know! I love Pit Bulls, and they don't have natural aggression towards humans, though you need to be careful around other dogs. Oh and people tend not to train little dogs anyway...So I wouldn't be suprised about the min pin not being trained!
