| ... any responsible breeder knows to test for genetic diseases. Mixed breeds come from a line of irresponsibilty and not caring. Did you also hear that PETA is trying to keep TV stations from airing the Westminster dog show next month? www youtube com/watch?v=ra2JuxRdlmA

Good for them.
I say we have a dog channel barbecue party outside their HQ in Virginia some time. Hot dogs, hamburgers......
Maybe take out some ads in animal rights publications that tell you how when you contribute money to Peta it gets used to uthanize thousands of companion animals...
Can you tell I don't like PETA LOL?!

I know and I think it's redicuclous. But most of what PETA does is rediculous anyway, so surprise surprise.
They argue that dog showing is just for profit. No, it's to help find the best dogs for breeding. Although, it can be used wrong and some judges aren't so good and pick a certain dog to win for reasons other than the right one.
No breeder, IMO, should rely on showing completely to judge the quality of their dogs. They should know the standard and e able to evaluate their dogs themselves, and they should get a second opinion from someone else who knows the standard, in addition to showing. I will also say that just because a breeder doesn't show their dogs doesn't necessarily make them irresponsible.
And, as mentioned, health also comes into the picture. Many show "breeders" do not do all of the necessary health testing.
I hate PETA's fronted "poor shelter animals...don't ever breed dogs!" attitude. That's bad enough for me. What I hate even worse is their mission to get rid of domesticated animals.

Yeah I heard something about that. *sigh* Peta really needs to find something better to do than to try and stop dog shows. They can start by not euthanizing all the dogs they get in Edit: Supposebly there was a poll in the LA Times and these are the results: Yes -- breeding dogs for the show ring is unethical and shouldn't be supported 7% (352 votes)
No -- dog breeders promote responsible pet ownership and dog shows are fun to watch 93% (4599 votes)
Don't know <1% (16 votes) they're talking about it on their forums (quote for link)

I read a little bit of their forums and couldn't stand to read more. That thread about breeders drove me crazy.

People who can stand their nonsense are just ignorant, lazy, and gullible. ignorant, in that they apparently don't know any better. lazy, in that they really don't bother researching the TRUTH of what they claim. gullible, in that they believe anything someone feds them as truth.
