So I recently saw a review about this brush called The FURminator on PetKnows blog...and from the pictures on the site, it looks like it removed a TON of fur. Great for prepping your dog's coat before a show. I wish I could link to the blog, but this site doesn't allow links.

We have it where I work....we dont really use it that much cuz its not the greatest. What works best is a forced air dryer. We use a de-shed shampoo and de-shed comb. The furminator only really works for short coats. Theres better tools....

The furminator is good for shedding coats, but not for "show" coats.  <G> Used wrong, it can break the coat.  I've found it's suitable for some applications, great for other applications, and not suitable at all for some.  But certainly it's main purpose is for getting out the dead hair, so you wouldn't want to use t during the time your dog is "in coat" (meaning not ready to shed it out).

It's best for double coated breeds, and not at all suitable for single coated breeds.  GSD's, Labs, Sibes, and similar coats would benefit during periods of shedding.

I will say it works better than most brushes on my Sibe when she's blowing coat.

I've heard great reviews of it, too.
