For the Obama family, I would personally recommend a Labradoodle or some mix including a poodle and labrabor or golden retriever in the lines. Poodles are great for people with allergies because they do not shed and Labs are wonderful family dogs with great personalities. They are very gentle, friendly, and good for families with children. I highly support the adoption of a dog from a shelter though.

| Getting a pit bull would be a major boost for the breed! I hope they don't fall for the "poo's." They're not breeds!!

Doxielover2 (3/19/2009) Getting a pit bull would be a major boost for the breed!
While I agree that it would help the breed, I don't think that a Pit Bull would be the right breed for them. I've never owned one, but some people who have told me that they need hours of exercise and can become rambuncious if you don't set boundaries.

| They can be rambunctious, but so can any breed. I would rather have a rambunctious pittie than say, a rambunctious lab or golden. they are some of the sweetest dogs out there and if i didn't have other dogs, I would have one.

I hadn't heard that they'd decided on a PWD for certain, just that Michele was wanting one. I was hoping they'd go for a Labradoodle.

no they said they are getting a porti in April. Personally I am glad they are not getting a doodle. There has already been ads in our local paper calling them Obamadoodles don't get me wrong I have nothing against mixed breeds, but if they get a doodle I think the byb's will become even worse!
