I don't think its right to "restrict" or "ban" breeds of dog.

I agree with dobermom and think that with proper socialisation and correcting any aggresive behaviour, which responsible owners do, then any breed of dog is fine.

Its irrisponsible dog owners that don't take those measures who's dogs end up harming people. So its not the dogs that should be restricted or banned.

I have three pit bulls that will lick you to death.A friends 1yr.old granddaughter just had plastic surgery to repair her eye because of a shih tzu bite.Don't get me wrong I don't hate Shih tzus.I owned one who died at age 18 without ever biting anyone. What I'm saying is it can happen with any breed of dog.Banning breeds is stupid. It's peoples fault if the dogs are bad not the dogs. Some people are allergic to nuts.MAYBE WE SHOULD BAN PEANUTS!

Wow Labrador Retriever surprised me... Number 1 dog breed in US and UK! and they have it banned/restricted. There are definatly better ways for this. Over 99.9% of the time it's the owners not the dogs themselves!

To tell you the truth my dog has been attacked by four labs (different occasions), but I still have nothing against them and I HATE BSL!!! I am a Pit Bull Lover and Advocate!

The Retriever?Pug?Boston Terrier?Aussie? That stinks so much but I'm still gonna get those when I'm older and get my own house. I mean rotties, dobers, and pits i understand cause some are aggressive and insurance goes up but i mean what are wrong with the rest? And i still think though that pits, rotties, and dobers should be given a second chance. And where did you find out all this info?

Animals are not to be treated rude but to be treated nice and respectedly. I love animals!!

Not being mean or anything, but I actually have found more aggressive retrievers than Pitties! I got my face torn up by a Retriever...Wasn't fun!

I can vouch for that as well--in my area, most of the aggressive dogs that I run into are what some refer to as the "yap-yap" breeds. Most of the nice ones are of the Pit Bull type.
Perhaps the insurance companies charge more for larger breeds because they are more likely to cause damage. But any dog can do damage, so if you ask me, if they're going to charge more for a certain breed, make where they charge more for all dogs.
Just ask the baby who was killed by a JRT. And the other one who was killed by a Pomeranian.
Or, at the very least, charge more for any large dog, not just the ones that people tend to think of as aggressive.
