What? Golden Retriever? Pug? Bull dog? That's so weird. Pardon me for asking...but if you remember, where did you get this information? It seems bizarre to me. In Canada I don't think we have any "banned" breeds. I guess it's different over there...

| Yep, I'm used to it. I've always had Dobermans, Boxers or Rottweilers. I've never been able to purchase homeowner's or renter's insurance because of my breeds. I've been denied alot of things. There are even veterinarians in the area who will not treat certain breeds! Bottom line: All dogs have teeth, so all have the potential to bite. I think that those of us who socialize, train and yes, sterilize our dogs should be rewarded, not lumped in with people who shouldn't even possess a stuffed animal!

| I agree that banning breeds in general is not the way to go about things. Unfortunately there are so many dog owners that are not responsible and so a bad reputation is forefront in people's minds, despite the work and dedication of those responsible owners. But some of the dogs on that list are definitely perplexing!! We have a pitbull mix, and there is a guy in our neighborhood who is so nervous about letting his pug near our dog, even though he is the sweetest thing and is nothing but friendly. But he thinks pitbull = dangerous without even giving our dog a chance. We are about to foster a pitbull from a rescue group in CT, and not only did they first have to look up whether there is a ban in our town, they felt it necessary to warn me that I may want to call her a mix breed to help alleviate any concerns. Not that I think a police officer would deliberately pull me over because I have a pittie in my car, but I suppose stranger things have happened. Its sad.

I saw that somewhere. Not sure how true it is, but it's sad.

Wow Labrador Retriever surprised me... Number 1 dog breed in US and UK! and they have it banned/restricted. There are definatly better ways for this. Over 99.9% of the time it's the owners not the dogs themselves!

the bite statistics from 1974-05, says the Retriever is on the #1 Spot .
Way down on the bottom are the pitt breeds, and there are 2 incidents in 30 Years from Dobermans.
people read too much into the media hype, believe it , and have recentment against them, for not knowing the breeds as awhole.
