Is this an internet rumor or true- that an ad was placed in the July issue of Dog Fancy stating

"Just bought a brand-new purebred puppy? Welcome him or her into your home with a free gift bag! Call us today at 1-866-834-6061 to claim your bag and hear about our products"

People, this recording will not only shock you, but you will be outraged at what it says about buying a puppy. How on earth can these lunatics get away with making such statements??!!

I can't believe the irresponsibility of Dog Fancy/Bow Tie by taking money for an ad with a toll free number offering a "free gift bag, and not at the very LEAST calling that advertised number to VERIFY the validity.

What if that number had been for pornography and a child had called that number?

But then again, this isn't the FIRST time Bow Tie/Dog Fancy has taken money for ads placed by animal right's groups: like the full page ad placed by the H$u$ (the Humane Society of the United States) a few months back...

By accepting money for and allowing these ads to appear, it's clear to me that this company will bite the hand that feeds it.

Hello fellow dog lovers,

Lots of comments have been circulating on the Internet this week about the following ad that appeared in the August issue of DOG FANCY:

"ABC PUPPY PRODUCTS -- Just bought a brand-new puppy? Welcome him or her into your home with a free gift bag! Call us today at (xxx) xxx-xxxx to claim your bag and hear about our products."

This ad was placed by a private individual on behalf of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.

DOG FANCY does not knowingly accept advertising from PETA and does not agree with its extremist views. Unfortunately, the organization resorted to guerrilla tactics by placing an ad in DOG FANCY under a pseudonym to deceive readers with a free gift bag offer, opting to use shock tactics to try get its message heard.

DOG FANCY promotes responsible dog ownership, including the responsible breeding and sale of purebred dogs. This is the first time in many, many years that the organization has succeeded in slipping past our screening measures, and we accept responsibility for the failure to catch this ad before going to press. We apologize to all who have been offended by this offensive and misleading stunt, and will continue to refine the systems in place to prevent our readers and advertisers from being exposed to such distasteful hoaxes.

Sincerely,
Susan Chaney, Editor
DOG FANCY

Were they really using the name "ABC"? If so, that alone would've raised my suspicions. To me it'd be like someone using the "ACME" name.

This does not surprise me one bit. PETA founder Ingrid Newkirk has said what her objectives are ...

Ingrid Newkirk, peta founder openly stated her agenda.

"Our Goal is total animal liberation, and the day that  everyone believes that animals are not ours to eat, not ours to wear, not ours to experiment, and not ours for entertainment, or any other exploitive purpose.
I have one more thing to say to them,  remember this... rights movements
never go away. They always get stronger, they always attract more people, and there is no point whatsoever wasting your time fighting them, because we will grow, and we will win, and that's a fact."

so her goal is no more animal testing. She has stated "even if it means a cure for aids"

and No more circus's,  amazing animals shows, No more akc dog shows,

and no more leather shoes, no more fur trimmed jackets,

no more eating Steaks, cheese, Milk,

forget making a dog a family pet.

All this has already begun.  Like a wolf in sheep's clothing they have got Americans to donate to their cause under false pretenses. Their shelters have the highest kill rates of any.  They have used our donated monies to lobby for laws that are currently being passed throughout our great country.  They have successfully lobbied for the beginning of what Ingrid envisions, and are making great headway. If you think it will stop at forcing people to spneuter, you are fooling yourself.  They are very powerful, and very dangerous.

AR groups have defined different types of breeders and have been successful in making us all squabble. Why?  To keep us from focusing on what they are doing.  Will they win?  It would take years and years to accomplish what Ingrid wants. We could stop her IF every type of breeder banded together instead of fussing. The very first thing to do is to take away her tax exempt status. It is a travesty that peta possesses  it.

4myRotties,

I agree with your statement about a child. What if a child who has just gotten a new puppy, sees this ad, then decides to call this toll free number to get a gift for their new puppy. How will they feel when they hear that because their family bought a puppy from a breeder, a dog has been killed??!! The whole thing is such an outrage!

Ouch.

Well, if the publication is run much the same as the website/message boards, it really doesn't suprise me that the ad was published.  Shame though.

How low will PETA go? Using innocent language to spread their vile message is despicable.

I feel bad for Dog Fancy, which was merely a tool that PETA used.

Ingrid Newkirk's goal is to keep making more and more money and living the high life in the limelight. The louder she gets the more money she makes and the more power she has.

Sadly there are still people that believe she has an animals best interest at heart and that she works tirelessly for the good of animals that can't think for themselves. Laughing all the way to the bank at the two footers that will buy her garbage and can't think for themselves.
