When I first got Schatz, my mini schnauzer, it was several months before he began actually listening to me and doing what I expected/asked. The key for me was repetition. However I will acknowledge that he did not have dominance issues.

I encourage you to keep up the Cesar Millan mindframe, even though you feel it is not helping. If you are not confident in yourself or feel discouraged because your husband is on a different page, I'm sure the puppy is sensing it and its probably doing more sabatoge than you realize. I am a firm believer in Cesar's methodology, which is similar to the other recommendation given. Don't give up!!

If all else fails, I too would recommend a dog behaviorist/trainer. Best to nip bad behavior now. If your husband is not helping, then you need someone who can/will help and will hopefully set your husband straight too. Good luck!

RE: puppy not seeing me his owner as the pack leader

I think that the problem might be due to the fact that in the pups mind your hudsbad is alpha. However you must remember that pups have short attention spans. I don't really know if this is a dominance issue but if you think is start a training program.

Absolutly no babying, by NOBODY! Its important to let every family member in on this training that you'll be going through. Some things that you can do to show that your the boss and not the dog are:

-You eat before he does
-No dog on beds, sofas, or couches
-Don't play when the pooch wants to play only when you deem it correct to do so
-Don't pet the dog when he wants it, only when you want it.

All the techniches that I've mentions are part of a training program called NILIF (Nothing in Life is Free), its a program for overly aggressive or dominant dogs. Google NILIF and see if you think you might need it.

Also try getting a behavioralist to asses your dog to see if this really is a dominance issue. Could be that he'll grow out of it.

But to see if we can give ya better advice could you tell us:

-How old your pup is

-What things (in especific) does he do to challenge your authority?

-And if he does this with only you or other members of the family?

puppy not seeing me his owner as the pack leader

My puppy is not seeing me his owner as the pack leader I've tried everything I can think of
but he still tries to either not listen or run to my husband who treats him like our child
he's a pit bull and is stuburn as all hell what am i doing wrong I've tried to correct my husband that wont work he wont listen either I'm correcting my self Ive tried acting like a pack leader dog but that wont work I watched all the dog whisperer movies and read all the training books I can please tell me how and what Im doing wrong Please i need help
