I would suggest getting your dog tested for allergies. My puppy started exhibiting these symptoms and the vets tested him for everything, but not for allergies. He then progressed into chewing/licking his feet and we finally determined that it was seasonal allergies. Unfortunately, it took a lot of pain on his part, and a lot of money on our part before we figured it out.

My older dog, Sioux, developed "bumps" in a variety of areas about three months ago and scratched at them like crazy. I used a hydrocortizone based shampoo and spray developed for dogs and now she doesn't have any problems. Just thought I'd add that in case someone was interested in the info while browsing through here. Through trial and error, I determined she was allergic to eggs, so I don't feed them to her anymore. Poor thing! Have a great day!

I agree! Sometimes new grooming products dont agree with your dog's skin! Also, seasons can have something to do with it! My dog sneezes alot in the summer!

Thats good i agreee to ask the vet even if they ar enot back by then i guess they just come and go but i guess it can be different in each dog i just sometimes feel them on max and i make sure they are not ticks

I was mostly just curious to see what the article said more than anything. The bumps haven't come back and I'm sure they are exactly the same as what your schnauzer gets (although just to be 100% safe I will ask my vet if they appear again). He has his 1-year appointment next month, so I may just ask then even if they aren't back.

I'm sorry i could not help you right away i have not been on lately. But i also have a miniature schnauzer Max. Max also gets these bumps quite often i have asked the vet and the vet said it's nothing to worry about these bumps are common in mini schnauzers Max has always gotten them and they sound like what you are talking about. I believe these do not come with age for the reason of him being ablout 4 months when we got him and he is turning 4 on july 18 and as i said has always gotten them and the vet said they were harmless. By the way your pup is adorable!

If you are not sure about what it is, are you in the position to take the dog to the vet? Maybe at a certain point it will start to be a bother. Catch this while you can.

Update - The little bumps are disappearing as quickly and mysteriously as they first appeared! My suspicion is that they were a reaction to something, what I'm not quite sure. I am going to keep a close eye on what products our groomer uses, etc to see if I can figure out what causes them, should they reoccur. Thanks for all the suggestions.

That is good to hear that they are going away! Good luck and I hope they don't come back.

OUr schnauzer was checked and rechecked, and the vet told us again, they are Fat Bumps.
Nothing to worry about, if they do not attach to any part of the body.
Tenacious D's do not attach to anything as of now.
That's why he is getting checked every 6 month.

Discard the tumor idea, its many small bumps with scabs.

The vet after extensively examining him, said, those are * fat tumors* and are completely harmless.
They come with age.
Our schnauzer is 10,5 Years old.

See Steven, someone agrees with my idea.

Anyway, I would let the vet check it out and run tests.

I belive that was a stated fact, because Dobermom said that they come with age, and the pup is only 10 months, don't coincide if you ask me.lol.

My 6 year old Mini had similar bumps a year or so ago. It was inflammation caused by allergies, or an allergic reaction. It could be dry skin as well. Try moisturizing his skin, or contact your vet for other alternatives (e.g. anti-inflammatories). Any treatment could take a few days to a week for 100% improvement. Hope this helps!

My 11 week old Great Dane has the same bumps. I got my puppy at 7 weeks and he had them then. The breeder said that they were from the mothers milk and would go away when he adjusted to regular puppy food.

They are still here. Its not the food or the shampoo because i am feeding him different food from what the breeder was and different shampoo also.... They kinda look like warts.? Dont know if thats possible but..I dont know what else they could be...?

If you pick at the top of it, it kinda flakes off. It in now way bothers him, he never scratches them but wont go away.

Allergies? Maybe, but I would be iffy about that theory because where would the scabs come from? Unless they itched and your dogs themselves caused them. And you said yourself that they didn't seem to be itchy.

Bug bites however don't necessarily need to itch all the time. Maybe a skin-scrape that a vet can do could diagnose a problem. Not sure though.

Hm, interesting idea. I did switch the kind of shampoo I use on him recently. Maybe I will try an all-natural product to see if it makes a difference.

Weird bumps on my Mini Schnauzer

My 10 month old Mini Schnauzer has been developing these strange bumps on his skin. They are small, tiny bumps and some have a scab that picks off. At first we thought they might have been bug bites. They do not seem to itch or bother him or anything. But what started out as a couple bumps here and there have accumulated into many of them, mostly on his head. Our groomer wasn't sure what they were either.

Does anyone have any idea what these bumps might be?
