Recently she started to loose her appetite to the point of losing weight. I brought her to my vet for a senior health profile exam and a dental check.. she passed with flying colors. The vet suggested at her age, give her anything she wants. I believe that good nutrition is key to a healthy aging dog. It took several tries to find something that she would actually eat with any enthusiasm.

Now she's on a diet of Purina One Senior mixed with wet food and either beef or chicken broth or leftover cooked vegetables or pasta. Then I warm it up. She now eats with the excitement of a much younger dog.

If you have a senior dog whose appetite is not what it used to be, what tricks do you use to improve its appetite?

New Senior Dog Care Section

Hello DC Members!

September is Senior Care Health month and we thought that it would be appropriate to introduce a section on the DogChannel Forum dedicated to our senior dogs. We hope that you'll find this new section userful.

And please post some photos of your Seniordogs in this thread! I know how everyone loves showing off their dogs! Let's put our seniors in the spotlight!
