Remember my post saying there was a stray in the neighbor that was very friendly and I wanted to help him and take care of him? Great news! I haven't seen the dog in a while, so I asked my neighbor where he was. Turns out, the Humane Society won't take the dog in for some reason (Why? I'm not sure..Hmm..) So my neighbor said he'll take care of him. Hopefully everything works out, and I'm sooo glad this dog got a second chance! I was so worried he'd get lost or hit by a car or something. I'm glad he's happy now.

Well, this place looked a little empty so I thought I'd start a topic here. I was just wondering who out there has an adopted or rescued pup? Also, what was their story and how have they changed your lives? You can talk about all the good and the bad, anything at all about your little shelter dog.

I have one shelter boy.

Name: Sam Adoption Age: 1 1/2 Current Age: 2 1/2 Weight: 10 lbs. Breed: Miniature Pinscher/ Chihuahua mix

Sam came to me not knowing a thing: he wasn't crate-trained, wasn't housebroken, didn't know any basic commands or how to behave in public areas. He had aggression issues with his food and toys and was nervous and easily startled around anything unfamiliar. His previous owner was a very large woman who was not able to care for such a little dog or even herself. Now though, he can stay in his crate during the day when we're not here, he can hold it up to 10 hours in emergencies, is incredibly smart and performs many complex commands obediantly almost always, and has basic skills mastered for public places. His possessiveness vanished within weeks by feeding him from my hands and controlling how long he got to play with his toys. He is still nervous in new situations but adapts quickly. His only issues are some aggression with dogs while at off leash dog parks and over exitement with dogs while on leash.

Adoption,Fostering, and Vet

When I grow up, since I love animals, I want to be a vet. I also want to foster and adopt dogs and cats, and other animals. I want to save animals on the street, abandoned, sick, and lost. And since I'm gonna be a vet I can help the hurt and sick animals when i go to work. I want to help out at a shelter also and have a lot of animals. Please post and let me know if you would like to foster,adopt,or be a vet.
