i love watching the westminster dog show, infact ive been recording the westminster dog show since the late 80s and i have a collection of every westminster dog show. ive never missed it. i enjoy seeingt the new breeds that are never shown at westminster. so are there any fans here who watch or tape the westminster dog shows?

Belle's first show

Belle had her first show today! We got third place!!!! not bad considering it was an outdoor show and of course it was pouring oh and my daughter decided Belle's ruff was too long so she cut half of it off!

Ravenna Show

July 4th we went to Ravenna I showed Belle and Dusty.

Belle is now an UKC champion!!!!!!

Dusty has 10 points towards his championship, he showed well for his first show. He stacked on the table nice, without too much fidgeting, didn't move when the judge examined him, but he decided he should bark while we was running around the ring! The judge was impressed with him and couldn,t believe he is only 6 months old.

Our next show isn't until September 5th, so we got time to practise!

got another round of shows this weekend!

first is Saturday my son has a 4-h show, then Sunday Belle and Dusty have a show! Too bad it is going to be so hot for the shows were talking 90's This will be Dusty's first real show for points I can't wait to see how he does in the ring!! hopefully the heat won't affect him too much.

I went to my second and third show today (2 shows 1 day)

first show Belle placed 1st in her class then won winners b!tch!!!!!!

second show, 1st in her class, and then reserve winners b!tch!

so she now has 35 out of 100 hundred points towards her UKC championship!

Ok I know this isn't the picture section but I figured I'd get more answers here. So here is my baby, wini. Please answer these questions(for each picture): Is this a good stack? Is her conformation good/good enough to show? And other comments too!

Thanks! Oh and any tips for training her to stack? I have to hand stack her. I saw on tv, at the euk. AKC show a guy lead his GSD right into a stack without touching him. I really want to get into showing but have never done it. We can't do any training classes, there arn't any in our area and the are too exspensive!

Hi.I am thinking of entering my dog in a dog show.Now I know what most people are gonna say how do u know your dog is show quality.Well my vet is a corgi breeder and said he is a great looking.But he is more educated in breeding so I was wondering if anyone knows anything about this sprt and if you do is it a good thing to get into or not.Thanks

CKC registration

I'm registering my Lab in the Continental Kennel Club, and I'm interested in doing Tracking competitions someday with her. I looked up Tracking on the AKC website and it said to take your dog to a tracking competition that it had to be registered with the AKC. Does it mean that she can't compete unless she's AKC registered, or just can't compete in an AKC competition? It seems like since she will be registered in another kennel club that she could compete in some kind of competition.
Any thoughts? Anyone else who has competed in Tracking with a dog not registered in AKC but another kennel club? Thanks in advance!

New Puppy Needs A Show Name

I am buying a new puppy that I will be showing early next year. He is 7 weeks old today and will be coming home in 3 weeks. He comes from some really great champion lines. I am just having a hard time picking out just the right name for him. He is white with black and tan. Mostly white. His grandsire is Dante Domino, on dad's side and on the mothers is Cruise Control. He also has some of the greats, like Beau Chiene and Mister Snow Bliss, and Stonehill go round. But I am not really sure how to go about naming him for his papers and am open to any suggestions. I am planning to put the breeders kennel name first and my kennel name last. Thank you in advance for your help and suggestions.

How much should I charge to keep and show someone else's dogs?

A breeder out-of-state wants me to show dogs for her, and keep them with me during their show career. I'm having trouble coming up with what to charge her.

I have some showing experience, but not with her breed. I'm still an amateur though, for sure.

I think I'm just going to keep a tally on the expenses incurred, including the dog's care expenses/travel expenses for me and she will reimburse me for those.

I need to know what to charge her for the time I will have into this endeavor. The dogs are small, but very high maintenance when it comes to grooming.

I want of charging her a certain $ per normal weekday and Sunday, per hour on show days, and Saturdays free for the first dog, and then add a little extra per each for the next multiple dogs.

What should be my daily base fee for the first dog? What should be my hourly fee on show days for the first dog? The second dog?

Or is there a better way to charge for this?

I want to show my Aussie pup badly . He is a great dog , nice lines , good coat , clean markings , I think he would be a great show dog . He lives at my mom's house , but that isn't the main problem . He is fixed , and the AKC won't let you show a fixed dog in a Conformation class , but the national breed club lets Juniors show them . I'm under 18 , so does anyone have any advice ??

I'm showing two of mine this coming Saturday. Accckkk! Pray for me... I've handled quite a few times now, but I still get nervous.... specially this time. My young blue merle will be going out her first time. Her conformation is very nice. I just hope she keeps a level head and doesn't freak out. Keep your fingers crossed guys.

National Dog Show in Reading Pa

To find it – they actually have two live streams running covering the whole thing. They are also taking in new legitimate breeders on their site. I hear they only have a few slots open.

Topk9s.com is awesome – they do checks on all the breeders listed, to make sure they are all real and legit, they will not allow anything to do with puppy mills on the site. They won’t even allow Google ads because Google ads promote puppy mills. My uncle just started listing with them and has had great results with their Great Dane puppies – The breeders listed are top in their breeds and some are even champions. We have really been impressed with how well our Great Dane puppy’s have been doing since we started listing with them.

Unfair showing to rare breeds??

Well, of course, the Cane Corso is not an AKC recognized dog, therefore a dog only looked at over the shoulder. Same goes with the other "rare guys." It was proven that breeds lesser known to judges will NOT win because they don't know the breed or its backround. I am not hatin' on common breeds now, don't get me wrong. It is just extremely common for a GSD or a Lab to win over a Kommondor or Briard, or even a Pharoh Hound. What are your opinions, and please NO rude comments!! PLEASE!!

Dreadlock hair styles for poodles?

I'm not sure if this is where I should post this topic but I didn't see an area for coat care and I know that people who do shows might know a little bit more about the dogs coat then others would. I recently saw a dreadlock coat on a poodle in the dog bible I just got. I'm going to be getting a poodle soon and would really like to dreadlock his coat. I know dreads are a LOT of up keep and am committed to making sure the coat stays clean and dreaded properly. I was wondering if this is actually comfortable for the poodle though. I know Komodors (Not sure if I spelled that right.) have naturally dreaded coat, but is it really comfortable for them to move around in. I love the look of the dreads on a poodle. But I wont force him to have dreads at the chance of him being constantly uncomfortable.

will the american kennel club be as big as the fci?

i dont know if there is anyone here from michigan, but every march here in detroit we have the detroit kennel club dog show although it isnt telivised i go to the shows every year. and its at cobo hall in detroit so who ever wants to know about the show should visit the site.

Anne Rogers Clark

This morning I was in shock as I read my Poodle Support Group list.

Apparently Anne Rogers Clark passed away this morning.

For those of you who don't know. Annie was a highly respected dog show judge as well as poodle breeder. She has served as my personal inspiration for many years in which I would like to be like once I get further involved in the dog fancy. Many of you have probably seen her over the years as a judge at the Westminster Kennel Club dog show on TV (I believe she judged the working group in 2004?).

Annie had fought a long battle with cancer and only recently decided to refuse further treatments. Last night she suffered a kidney failure and apparently refused dialysis. She will be greatly missed throughout the dog community.

my son showed skyler today in obedience novice a and he showed zeus in the assistance dog class. he got 16th place in obedience with skyler. which is not too bad considering it is a big show, and in the assistance dog class they do the canine good citizen. Zeus passed everything but the supervised seperation, he howled while caleb was gone The good news is that pilot dogs has descided to let Zeus stay with us for 4 more months to work with his problem area, and to let him mature more since he is only 10 months old.

Do you think the toy poodle should of won the nation do show?? I will have another poll of what dog you think should of won. I still need to replay the dog show. I taped it on dvd and I haven't gotten to it yet. I wish the dog with the white fur that kinda looked like a golden would of won. It dont matter though.
