This was the dumbest show I've seen and thought the dogs should be taken from the owners. What a way to mistreat an animal!!!!

I dont know.... I mean i watched some of it and sad to say no affance, i just think its pretty stupid! Just sayin is all they do is teach them tricks?! and i have to say those dogs wore some pretty ridcoulsly outfits... wat are they even competing for? just was so boring (and stupid) just giving my opnion...

i am agree with starry boy on this and i am glad they made a show that works people and their dogs.but why with the different site name.
i cant believe that guy thinking it was all about him.i am come on its about the dogs.i am so glad he was kicked off but feel bad for the dog.

I taped the show and I just got around to watching it and I do have alot of input.

1st of all why do they have at the end of the show...about visiting dogster when they should say dog channel?? That was my biggest question.

Second of all I am very happy with the show and I was also happy with the judges choice on who goes home. The Micheal dude to me, I hated him. I could tell from the start he was all about himself thinking he was God's gift to the world and the judge was right, it was about the dog not him. His dog was VERY bad when it came to listing. My dog isnt the best at listing to me but heck he listens ALOT bettter then that dog.

Third, I thought the lady was right about the lady who had her do dressed up in 90 degree weather was insaine. The poor dog not only got all that fur but the jacket and everything. She seems like she is nice in person but she seems to go overboard with her dogs.

The guy who won the challange and the fancy room, I think he is arrogent and I can't wait to watch him loose the challange next week. I think his dog is AWSOME when it comes to the tricks but you see alot of the people's personalltys and its like OKAY. I hate people who think they are gonna win and all that. Most of the time those who are not so sure of themselves win compared to those who are so sure of themselves.

I felt so bad for little elvis having to live in the dog house!! I loved that twist though. I like when everyone got together to put a matress in there. It showed alot of kindess and that is something you don't see anymore.

Last but not least, I loved the aloha show. I think Star is a cute dog and I like the owner from texas. He seems like a likable funny guy. I do like Travis and presley and I hope they win! I found them on dogster and gave them a little pup pal request. So he is getting my support Plus he wrote back really nice too.

Sorry I had to name he or she but I don't know the names of the people yet. That is my imput

I agree the home is amazing! See...now I'm gonna have to make a dog 'room'! I already went nuts with cats walks etc....after Cat Fancy put out the issue that showcased the cat enclosures etc, in Australia.

NOW, you got me so excited about the dog themed room.....your killing my pocket book here! LOL

Very lovely indeed.

I also found videos of the skateboarding dog on you tube. What's so amazing about him, is his ability to adapt. Most dogs when put into a new environment or exposed to new people will get so excited that any training kinda goes out the window for a minute! This little guy is very mellow...go with the flow...VERY cute! Probably do to the variety of social skills he gets at home. He spends so much time on the sidewalks skating and in the ocean! Tons of people and tons of dogs. Nothing effects him....hey....how can I get mine to behave like that?!?!?!

As for the variety of people, I love that. That's gonna add a little chaos...it's more interesting that way. I love the reality shows that throw a bunch of folks together who probably wouldn't normally give each other the time of day! hehehehe

But a 'doggy' reality show is a wonderful idea! I'm 32 yrs old and sick of watching 20 year old dating reality shows. They're dull and worn out. They over did it. I think this show will be a huge hit. Looking forward to more episodes!

If I'm going to watch a reality show these days, I'll watch this one. Sure there's melodrama amongst the human contestants, but it's worth it to watch the REAL stars...the dogs.

As of right now, I am rooting for the Border Collie, because it's close to the breed of dog that I have and prefer, the Aussie.

I like it, and will definitely watch it again next week.

I missed the 1st 30 minutes of the show but what I saw of it I was not impressed at all. I'm a great animal/dog lover - I'll give it another chance next week but I have a feeling that this show is not going to make it - sorry

were you able to tell the difference between the dogs that have had actual agility or trick training from the ones that may just have some of the basic training and like to have fun with its owner?

I loved in the hawaiian groups how they all went through the hoops, even if it was a dog just walking through it instead of jumping.

Do you think that having all of those new dogs in the house will have an affect on the dogs ability to perform their tasks? During the musical chairs it seemed like one of the dogs was super excited to be having fun and didn't want to really sit still.

Dogs acclimate in time. After all, any walk in the park will expose a dog to new people, animals and stimuli. Just as with humans, shyer dogs might take a little longer to warm up than more extroverted dogs. However, since professional trainers flew out and temperament-tested all potential dogs for the show, the show's creators were looking for friendly, outgoing canine contestants.

i have a pug, a mixed breed, a Jake Russel, an Autralian shepard, A sheepdog mix, a ratareeer, and a Chuwawa. Then Parakeets and im not sure whta breed my cat is =D.

Well, Beacon and Brandy were in our bottom three. Michael and Ezzie were very sweet, but poor Ezzie shivered and shook and really seemed overwhelmed by the loud music, her owner's big platform heels and all the glitz and bling.

Yes, I have Cavalier King Charles Spaniels and Tibetan Mastiffs. I have always had cats as well.

I agree... incredible grounds! The estate is located north of Malibu, CA. The owners vacated the house for the duration of the shooting, and the property was transformed to create an exclusive "Canine Academy." Weren't the topiaries of dogs and fire hydrants amazing? Very clever.

Hi,

The contestants probably had a couple of days to work on their routines, after having them demonstrated by a professional trainer and stunt dog. The judges were on the set only for Best in Show Challenge/Elimination days. We did a one-on-one critique for each dog/owner, and then deliberated for an hour or more before coming to our final decision.

What a small world! Bill is a lovely man and the devotion he and Star have for one another is immediately evident. They were a great addition to the show, I thought.

No, the judges had no involvement in the casting of the contestants.

Would you consider a dog that just knows basic commands be part of the show or do they have to do awsome tricks? My dog is really people shy and I don't think he would do any good with people taping him.

Good question! No, the judges didn't get to meet the dogs and owners ahead of time, or see how they interacted in the house. We would arrive in the Best in Show arena and see the dogs demonstrate the challenge of the week, then direct our comments to the owners and dogs at that time.

I can not belive these were the best dogs or people they could find to do this show !!! Where did they look ?? I thought this was really going to be a good show to watch and I am already ticked off at almost everyone on there. I thought the dogs were suppose to be trained but now I am wondering---trained at what ?? Not to listen ?? The border collie jumped the fence and headed for the pool even though he was told no---the black poodle?? came in and went right up on the table---the lady that did not want anyone to even touch her dog---when that lady picked it up the dog snapped at her. I could go on --- I think what they need on there to blow their socks away is an actual well behaved--well mannered--well trained Rough Collie !! I have one !!!!

I'm curious as to how the first 12 contestants are chosen. Was there a competition for this ? I found the show to be quite similar to "Big Brother" ... do they (Greatest American Dog) plan on showing more "behind the scenes" ? I want to see how all these dogs (and humans) are going to react to each other, living in the same house.

My understanding is that there was a nationwide search done to find the 12 owners and dogs. Everyone wanted a nice cross-section of owners and dogs... various ages, different parts of the country represented, etc., and I think they succeeded in that goal.
