I just found out about this warning on the American Veterinarian Medical Association website about the chicken jerky strips that we had a problem with. You can go to their AVMA website and do a search on "pet food safety jerky treats". For some reason I wasn't able to insert the hyperlink to the site. It's worth checking out this site though.

Also, I think I mentioned in another post that we did finally find the chicken strips that we believe are safe and our dogs like--Konas Chips and you can buy them online.

My you and your dogs be happy and healthy!

RE: After the Pet Food Recall, Do You Check the Label of Dog Food/Treats?

I always check to see what's in the treats I buy and where they are made. I also have a ton of homemade biscuit recipes and have formulated some of my own recipes for other kinds of treats. As far as the food goes, Bubba's on a raw based diet, kibble and all. It's certified organic.

RE: After the Pet Food Recall, Do You Check the Label of Dog Food/Treats?

If we can get sick from our own vegetables and meat in our own country what makes you think, it cannot happen to dog food from our own country? Sure, other countries don't have high standards when it comes to cleanness and how food is handled but you can't go by which country when picking food. Sickness from a food can happen anywhere, any food from any region. I look at the ingredients and I look on the news to make sure there isn't some kind of "outbreak" on the food. Either way it’s a give or take risk. You don't know if there will be something to make your dog sick. Most of the time you’re lucky and nothing happens but sometimes you are one of those unlucky people who get the "bad" bunch. I don't think that after the recall we should be more aware of the food, we should of been aware of it before this happened.

RE: After the Pet Food Recall, Do You Check the Label of Dog Food/Treats?

I always check where things are made. Sometimes you can't help it and you have to buy things made in china but when it comes to food and other items why in the sam dickin hills can't americans make this stuff?!? Come one people stop being lazy and start trying to make this country look good. Im so sick of everything "chinise" and people are so stupid they can't see they are trying to kill us. Even the Japaneese can tell you that after they got food posin from china they stopped buying ANYTHING from china. That is what we americans need to do.

After the Pet Food Recall, Do You Check the Label of Dog Food/Treats?

I would like to see how you all answer this. Our Pom got very ill after eating chicken strips that were Made in China, even though they weren't recalled. He's okay now, but I think our awareness has been heightened. What do you think??
