I have a dog he is a male miniature Schnauzer named Max, I have two guinea pigs a female called Coco and a Male called buttercup mostly called his nickname Bub, and i have a frog named newt. Newt is acutally a small frog that someone gave to me because they did not have time to feed it clean it's tank and stuff because they were getting married

Dogs with Mohawks

How many of you have seen a dog with a mohawk? I've heard that groomers (who might be more on the creative side) actually like doing these "doggie doos" which are definitely "out of the box"! It seems like you see them more in areas like Venice, etc. Would you consider this for your pooch? I personally think it might be fun to stroll around San Francisco with a mohawk dog---our poms love attention and they certainly would get it! Oh, and believe it or not, I found out about this from a website actually called Dogs with Mohawks--they're not selling anything, it's just photos, so I think it's okay to post it here: dogswithmohawks.com It's great for a laugh!

So what are some tricks your dogs can do?

My dog is half rottie and have queensland (sheep dog). She pretty much looks like a smaller rottweiller. She is soo cute! We taught her the basic tricks like sit, lay down, speak, stay, etc. We also taught her to 'play dead' - where she rolls over on to her back and just lays there; to sit up; to shake hands. She's sooo cute! She's now teaching herself to open the back screen door. Its so funny. She was outside one night and it started to thunder outside and she got scared so she would stand on her back paws and bite on to the door handle and try to slide the door open. So funny

I thought for Max's birthday i would put some photos together and share them with everyone Max is turned four today and in about four months i will have had him for four years i will take some photos of him with his new toy we got him and post them later hope you enjoy the pictures LOL i just noticed i put alot of pictures of him sleeping and sitting none of him playing but he does play alot

I had yahoo news on and I saw an artical where this lady has a dog and the dog is 4 years old , it lives outside. Well somebody put glass in his food and the dog ate it and luckly it survived but had to go through surgry. They said that this was not an accident someone did it on purpose.

That just broke my heart to hear somebody could do that to a dog. They are offering an award to catch the person who did that. I hope that person who does it has to sit in jail the rest of their life. How anyone could do that to an animal I just don't know.

What do you think about it?

i have a cousin who smokes and i have asked him to smoke out side away from my dogs.i have another friend who gives his dog beer and stronger liquor and they asked me if i smoked and drank in front of them i said no way that is cruelty to animal or aleast what i think

chute trouble

as you may know (maybe not) my sons 4-h club has started doing agility this year. the training has been going good except for the chute. does any one have any tips on how to get my shelties to go through the chut when it is closed? they will run through it when someone holds it open at the end but they flat out refuse to do it closed. also we only have acess to the equipment once a week, and I cant afford to buy a chute since they cost over $100! I hope to get one in the future, but right now its a no go.

I think my dog has asthma!!

Ok, My dog is acting like he has asthma. I dont even know that dogs could have asthma. He is breathing in really loud and making a wierd face. Then he acts like like he is going to throw up but he dosent.After that he is normal. It only happens once in a while. I want to know what is going on!!

Help with aggressive/scared dog

My dog Max is 6.5 years old and a pom. He is a rescue. His previous owners kept him tied to a stake outside with a very short run. When I adopted him I had a large backyard and he would run around it in. I have since moved to a more urban area, so he has learned how to walk on a leash.

The problem I'm having is Max is VERY aggressive while on the leash towards other dogs. If he is on the leash and see another dog, or even hears dog tags, he goes crazy, snarling, barking, jumping all around. He is very hard to control. I find myself going outside first to see if there are other dogs out before I take him for a walk.

He used to act in the same manner with people too, however i worked with him (treats and lots of petting) so now he can walk around people fine. However we have never been able to get past the other dog problem.

When off the leash, Max is fine around other dogs and loves to play although at first he can seem skittish. I have taken him to doggie day camp and as long as he is the first dog there, he is fine and gets along well with others. It's only when he's on the leash.

We were asked to leave the Pet Smart training classes, one other group class I found from the internet, and three private dog trainers refunded my money saying he is untrainable.

i don't think he is untrainable, however I don't know what to do.

The only types of harnesses/collars I've used is the body harness and the Gentle Leader.

Any advice is welcome.

Ford VS Chevy

Okay, so I am saving my money up for a truck. Very egger about it and one of the only things I can think of right now. I can only afford a used one and I narrowed my choices down to two different brands which are Ford and Chevy. My friend said Ford stands for

This is the Ford F150, I really like the style and how it is heavy duty.

This is a Chevy and I like that model a lot and this truck to buy used is much cheaper then Ford F150.

Just had to share these pics of my co-worker's new Yorkie puppy, Snickers, because she's just tooo cute Snickers is 7 weeks old, I believe. Dayna, my co-worker, got her last week, when she was 6 weeks old, because that's when the breeder was letting her go.

Okay, Star needs the clicker training on his pulling. He won't learn ANY OTHER WAY and my mom refuses to get one because she finds it cruel, abusive and plain wrong. She said he is to old to have that thing. She started crying when I menchioned it because she thinks its so horrible. I told her I would buy it and then she said she would buy one to put on me because she is so against it. Well she said she will need information on it BUT she don't want information from the people on boards because she is so against hearing people's opinion. She wants acutal information from websites.

So my question is....Can you give me some links ON clicker training?? If you post a reply all about it my mom wont even read it she is very stubborn.

Also you can just post the link and I will know to *quote* the post to see the link. I am not good at taking out the spaces and stuff. I usally take out the main part of the link.

Sorry if If I am being picky but its not my mom, she is very very stubborn. Its so annoying. She don't even care how hard he pulls that gives me rope burns on my fingers which turn into blisters. Sometimes he pulls so hard I lose control of the handel and he takes off running.

My friend got a dog for the first time Wednesday. It is a shelter dog and it’s a mutt. Well he got it home and let it in the house, on the beds and couch then discovered it had fleas. Don't ask me how he didn't know this when he bought the dog but it happened. His mother is having a fit and she wants to throw the dog back into the pound again. Well I said "Dude, go get some flea shampoo from the pet store." So he goes and buys this flea shampoo and washes the dog out well and brushes it. He tells his mom that the fleas are all done, he bathed the dog which allows the dog back into the house. Then sometime during the night Brandon said he woke up all itchy and he thought it was the dog since the dog was sleeping on his bed. He looked at the dog and saw fleas again. His mom had another fight and said that if he couldn't get rid of the fleas the dog was going back to the pound this weekend. Anyone have advice?

Edit**- The dog does itch a lot but we figured it was allergies or something when we got him. He never even noticed the fleas on the dog. I really don't understand how that happened. It is very bizarre. I do know when it comes to dogs he has no clue what he is doing.
