Hey All!

I have a three year old who LOVES to chew. Now luckily she is through most of the phase of chewing up momma's personal belongings...on occasion she will take a tour of my laundry basket but no to much any more...

She loves those white and blue plastic $1 nylabones from walmart but I am wondering how safe those are for her...she has three and well...they don't look like bones any longer. She loves them.

I have heard of the Galelieo bone (not sure on spelling) but it is for the toughest chewers. Has anyone else heard of it? It's revatively new. Has any one tried it? Do they last?

Eating Grubs

We've had non stop rain for three days and all the beetle grubs are coming above ground.
Harry has discovered them... BLECH!! He just spent the last hour munching on grubs like m&ms. I know they're not going to hurt him, but OMG it's GROSS! LOL

Honestly, I can go all the way back to my first dog when I was 7 years old and none of them have ever eaten grubs. YUK YUK YUK!! (can you tell I'm seriously grossed out right now?)

No puppy kisses on this face today!

How Do You Pick Your Pup´s Name?

As much as I love reading, teaching and advising on Dog training, behavior and nutrition one thing that I have a personal interest in is how people choose their pup´s names.

for instance when I brought my pup she used to bounce like Tigger from Whinnie the Pooh and so the kids decided she should be called Tigger, I wasn´t overly keen on the idea at first, but eventually it gre on me and the name stuck, then to add to the humour my dog walking pal was a fan of Only Fools and Horses and named his alsation Trigger.

You can imagine the looks and the smiles when we were in the fields calling Tigger and Trigger!

What makes you name your dog, and how do you go about finding the name?

I hated to do this...but I had to quit work. The lady who does up the weekly schedules who knows I am in school put me for 8 hours a week with only one day off. It was alot and to much for me to handle and on top of all that it was ILLEGAL. Students who are under 18 and in school are only allowed 20 hours in our state. I was scheduled for 40 this week which is double what is required. So I kindly asked for them to shorten them and they said no there was nothing they could do but work it out next week and I told him school is more important and I needed off or I would have to quit. So since he couldnt do anything I said well I am sorry but today is my last day. I will NOT be in tomorrow. So now I suppose there mad at me because I quit last minute and they need someone to come in tomorrow and she has to redo all next weeks schedule but I do not care. It was her fault in the first place for not following the laws and by rights I could report them. So my brother said he will go with me to get my last check in case they try pulling any stunts on me.

This won't look bad on me for quitting because I quit for school and better education and they will look bad for working me way more then they should. Needless to say I am glad I quit because it was to much stress and I found myself snapping at friends and family and they were glad I had to. So yeah I just wanted to say those things =P

Airline Travel In-Cabin

I have an eskipoo dog. She weights 23lbs and her length is about 18 and her H is about 15". I purchased a Large Sherpa Pet Carrier (18" L x 11" H, for 22lbs) for her because I want to be able to travel with her on an airplane. She is fully trained to go in her bag, and she gets really excited to see it! I tell her to go in her bag, she runs and jumps in it. If I only have the side door open she goes inside and curls up and lays down. Although she is fully trained to be in her bag "comfortably" its obvious that she cant fully stand up if she wants to. She has learned the command "turnaround" and I've taught her how to turn herself around in the bag, but ultimately, is she too big to fly? Will the airlines allow her on board if she can't fully stand? She can turn around and lay down in the bag comfortably, will they allow this? What airlines will also allow a 25 lb dog? I know some have weight limits. Thanks for your help with this. She goes everywhere with me, but we've yet to fly together and I want to make sure that I won't have an issue at the airport because she can't fully stand up.

AMAZINGLY SIMPLE HOME REMEDIES

Avoid cutting yourself when slicing vegetables by getting someone else to hold them while you chop.

Avoid arguments with the Mrs. about lifting the toilet seat by using the sink.

For high blood pressure sufferers: simply cut yourself and bleed for a few minutes, thus reducing the pressure in your veins. Remember to use a timer.

A mouse trap, placed on top of your alarm clock, will prevent you from rolling over and going back to sleep after you hit the snooze button.

If you have a bad cough, take a large dose of laxatives; then you'll be afraid to cough.

You only need two tools in life - WD-40 and Duct Tape. If it doesn't move and should, use the WD-40. If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape.

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.

dog haters and abusers

people who abuse not only dogs but other animals really annoy me why would you be mean to such defenseless things if you can't take care of it don't have it or if you're going through a very tough time don't decide pets as last priority and stop feeding them or taking care or them, i mean what's the point.let them be loved, they deserve it.everyday they are loving,loyal,and willing to play for hours or just take a nap.

a lot of people that hate or don't like rottweilers, pitbulls, or pets that are assumed vicious have never even met one just know from someone elses opinion if you're unsure just go to a animal shelter and meet one. these pets are for certain people but not others, but basically just don't judge before you know for yourself.

Artificial turf for dogs?

Animal Shelter "turns down kitties."

I know this has nothing to do with animals but something I wanted to get your thoughts on. My aunt found kitties thrown by her house and she isn't allowed to keep them. Her husband told her to take them to the animal shelter and she did. She told them that they are abandoned baby kitties and so on. They told her they cannot take the kitties to put them back where she found them. Well knowing my aunt she didn't. She made a nice little place for them outside with hay and food and water. Her husband isn't to thrilled and told her she needs to find homes for the kitties or he might just kill them, he don't want them breeding.

I never knew animal shelters could or would turn animals down. Is what they did even legal? Kind of sad to hear because somebody is nice enough to save the animal by bringing them in but then good deed gets punished by being stuck with the animal who the person might not be able to keep or afford to keep. Makes me sick knowing that could cause more abandoned animals.

I adopted my dog from a local shelter about a year and a half ago. This whole time everyone was telling me that he looked like a cocker/basset. My groomer told me the other day that he thinks my dog is actually a Sussex. I have done my research on the breed and it sounds exactly like my dog but they are saying Sussex are 15-16" and 40-45lbs. My dog is about 14" and about 22lbs and the vet told me to not let him get any heavier than 25lbs for risk to his back.

Anyone have any ideas?

Not content with having the tallest building in America , the owners of Sears Tower in Chicago have installed four glass box viewing platforms which stick out of the building 103 floors up.

The balconies are suspended 1,353 feet in the air and jut out four feet from the building's Skydeck.

Floating on air: Visitors get their first view from The Ledge, four
glass balconies suspended from the 103rd floor of Chicago 's Sears Tower .

Designers say the platforms - collectively dubbed The Ledge - have
been purposely designed to make visitors feel as they are floating above the
city.

The reward is unobstructed views of Chicago from the building's west
side and a heart-stopping vista of the street and Chicago River below - for
those brave enough to look straight down.

'It's like walking on ice,' visitor Margaret Kemp, from Bishop,
California said. 'The first step you take you think "Am I going down?"'

Long way up: Even the floor of the platforms are glass - few were
brave enough to look straight down.

Fearless: Anna Kane, five, spreads out on the floor of the 10ft square box which is 1,353ft up.
Spectacular: She also enjoyed amazing views out across the city

Unfazed: Although some adults felt dizzy after experiencing the Ledge,
children seemed to take it in their stride.

'At first I was kind of afraid but I got used to it,' 10-year-old Adam
Kane from Alton , Illinois , said as clouds drifted by below.

'Look at all those tiny things that are usually huge.'

John Huston, one of the owners of the Sears Tower , even admitted to
getting 'a little queasy' the first time he ventured out on to the balcony.
However, after 30 or 40 trips, he seems to have gotten used to it.

Thrillseekers: The boxes jut out four feet from the building and were
specifically designed to make visitors feel as if they are floating.

'The Sears Tower has always been about superlatives - tallest,
largest, most iconic,' he said.

'The Ledge is the world's most awesome view, the world's most
precipitous view, the view with the most wow in the world.'

The balconies are 10ft high and 10ft wide, can hold five tons, and
have glass which is 1.5 inch thick.

Inspiration came from the hundreds of forehead prints visitors left
behind on Skydeck windows every week. Now, staff will have a new glass
surface to clean: floors.

Architect Ross Wimer said: 'We did studies that showed a
four-foot-deep (1.2 metres) enclosure makes you feel like you're floating
since there's only room for one row of people, not two.'

The Skydeck attracts 25,000 visitors on clear days. They each pay $15
to take an elevator ride up to the 103rd floor of the 110-story office
building that opened in 1973.

I have heard several different things about pit bulls, like the generalization that all are mean, furiocious, etc. And I have also heard of people who have pit bulls or pit bull mixes and they are some of the sweetest dogs ever. I have an idea for a story I think I might try to work on writing. The main characters are a dog and a cat (at this point). But I'm not sure yet what breed of dog I want to use. But I'm thinking of using something that's not a Golden or a Lab, since they seem to be used quite a lot (seeing as they're like the most popular breeds). But not a small/toy breed (some ideas I have that I might use would require a bigger breed). So I'm asking for ideas of what breed you think I should use.

Point of the Game: To list as many dog related words as possible without repeating any.

How to play: I'll post a dog breed/dog-related word. You take the last letter of that word and post a word that starts with it. And continue the pattern using words that relate to dogs or dog breeds.

Example using cat breeds:

Someone else: X-ray

Hi everyone. Following up from my last post.

Aries, my roommate's dog, is a very good dog. She's learned not to bark the absolute second I get home, she no longer jumps on me and she listens to my commands. She's calmed down a lot and I don't have to keep a constant eye on her while she roams house. But my roommate, despite what I've said to her, doesn't seem to listen. She often gets very frustrated when Aries acts up because of boredom.

I'm thinking ... as silly as the thought might be, that, when I move out, I should offer to buy Aries. I know my roommate loves the dog, but she really doesn't take care of her. I'm the one who walks Aries and I'm the one who looks after her when my roommates comes back from an eight-hour day at work and then takes off again with the boyfriend. Aries is good with me.

But I know Aries loves my roommate. Whenever she comes home, Aries is so happy to see her. She forgets all about me and follows her mom around, even though her mom treats her like crap.

I don't know. Is it a silly idea? I've become rather attached to her. I doubt my roommate would even sell Aries, though.

Well ants invaded my room once again but this time were on my bed which I wasn't to happy especially when its late at night and I just get home from work. So I decided then and their since I have to tear my room apart anyway to clean I might as well just redecorate it! For awhile now I been buying cute little dog items for my room whenever I did redecorate it. So I need like two more items and I should be good to go. I will be starting some of it today as far as the washing down walls and moving things out of my room. I am going to order a cute dog wall-boarder. I am excited about this and I cannot wait to see how it turns out! I haven't had a new theme since I was born. My mom never allowed me to have my own theme so its been "babyish" for awhile lol! I will take photos of the finished results, I also am finding items that are "star shaped" because that is star's name.

What is INSTANT TEA? I'm making this tea blend as a gift, and the recipe says I need Instant Tea. Well, I didnt know what that was so I searched it online. All that came up was buying these special instant teas online, and also like lipton and nestè instant teas.
