Looking back on a few posts, didn't Suprafia say there was going to be more mods? That never happened. I feel like there should some kind of system that if somebody reports a topic for it being spam, mean or whatever that it has to be locked up until the mods can come online to see it and then they can either keep or delete the topic and/or post that was reported. That would solve alot of bickering and hurt feelings. I know there will be some people who would abuse that feature so if they abuse it then take that right away from them..

I agree with that and I also think we should be able to LOCK our own topics you created if we don't want to discuss it anymore.That would solve alot of issues too.

yes i suppose so... but if you look at it in both acpecs, there can be some pros and cons...

I am in agreement that it is the members and there attitudes that keep the boards either nasty or clean. If you cannot keep your mouth shut when it comes to arguing then you really shouldn't be on the boards. The people who keep quite and let people make go on and don't get involved are those should stay on.

Hi everyone,

Let me start off by saying I agree that there should be more moderating of this site. The current moderators are technical and editorial administrators of the DogChannel site, thus, often don't have much time to devote to the moderating of the community.

Of the time that these team members have to moderate, Club Dog demands a majority due to an increasing number of inappropriate and often vulgar posts by members.

I've taken the concerns expressed to me privately and in this thread to DogChannel administrators, who are evaluating the need for an outside moderator. We're doing our best to resolve the moderating issue and thank those members who've helped keep this community on topic and civil.

Exactly!!! Sadly, there are so many people (i see alot of adults) who are are more, immature then teenagers. This world is crazy anymore, anything goes.

Yes,a large part depends on the community, but I have seen many wonderful, mature members leave because of the "lawlessness" on the site. It really is a shame. Every site needs consitant moderating, as this is what happens when there's not.

I belong to possibly a dozen great forums, and all of them have good, consistant moderating...k9mania included. Admin there "k9mania" is on daily and he doesn't hesitate to close posts when they become unruly (and they do there too), ban trolls and change the direction of a post. He does an outstanding job there, and though he may not be an official "mod" he performs the duties of one..or even many.

Well I wouldn't know too much about people who decided to leave, as you know I'm one of the those who has been absent for a while.

But don't the mods come and moderate here too? I've seen post being lock. I mean its not like we are all alone right?LOL

I just think it depends alot on us, and if we were more willing to let things go, this would be a better forum. I've seen some of the thread in which fighting occurs, and kids as well as grown-ups (saying that because I know that's your pet-peeve, unrully "kids" that is), keep on adding more to the arguement. So everyone has to help out.

Yeah k9mania does get on regularly, but is not on all the time or for long periods of time. I think she does a great job too, but my point was that you don't need like 10 mods on a forum to make it a good one.

Yes, the mods come here to moderate, but only once or twice a week max. Usually by the time they get on, these problem posts have spiraled way out of control and damage has already been done. I do believe a daily check of this forum is necessary.

I am complete agreement that it doesn not take 10 mods to get the job done. One would be fine...as long as they actually do the job.

And yes, I reported the locked post also- TWO DAYS before the thread was closed. That thread should have been locked on page one- not page four. It takes only minutes to log on daily to make sure everything is runnning smoothly. That's really all I'm asking for.

And as far as expecting everyone to act mature...well, in a perfect world, that would be the case, but we have all kinds on here, and a little moderation would go a long way at keeping things civil.

That late, huh? I have to agree with you that once or twice weekly isn't enough... Well hopefully DC decides to invest more on hiring mods instead of adding weird additions to club dog like it always does!

Acutally the mods only closed the topic because I and a few other members emailed the DC-Mod saying there was fighting going on, so then they came on to take a look. If it wasn't for some of the good members who report this stuff when people cant control what they say, this board would be out of control.

That proves my point, its up to us to make it a good community. Sure it may be hassal to email the mods but hey if it'll get things under control then its worth it.

I have begged and pleaded for better moderation of the site for well over a year. I really hope someday DC decides to take responsibility for their own site. It's really disappointing that this site is like this, as it could be a really great community with the right leadership.

I'm gonna have to repectfully disagree. I don't think that the problem is moderation, I think its the members. A site doesn't have to moderated all the time to be a good site or have a warm community.

As some of you know I go around many dog forums and see the differences. Sites that are well moderated are great and all but the overall feeling is a little tense and constricting. For instance a site you are familiar with: Dogforums.com, that site has 3-5 mods on at one time! The thing is that DC might not have the budget to recruit mods like they do.

On the other hand, sites like K9mania.com don't have ANY mods, and that one of the friendliest sites I've been on. The admin logs in like a regular person and doesn't stay and moderates all the time. Other than that NO MODS.

Moderators here log in when they can too, and they do what they can, I suppose.

Its not them, its just the people that make up the community, it depends on their demeanor, it depends on how often members decide to take somthing personal, and it depends on what the members decide to lable as irrelavant and otherwise not deserving of a response; such as a taunt, offensive comment, or trolls.

Thats my opinion anyway.

I really don't understand why you're taking offense to those writing their own comments. You should be happy because everyone is in complete agreement for once

I, SpencerIsAQT, think we need more mods to help stop fights before they get out of control and to warn/ban people who are just here to cause trouble and be rude.

And definitely somebody fair! Nothing more frustrating than being banned just because someone doesn't like you/your opinion.
