Hi guys! We had our first big snowfall a few days ago. We got 15cm!! So, I decided to take Oliver outside for an hour and take some new pictures! I recently figured out how to get pictures on the computer, so I'll be adding pictures more often...By the way, take a look at Ollie's jacket! So stylish! haha

The Atlantic Vet College

My Beginning. . .

My topic is about the P.E.I. Vet College (also called the A.V.C.)! I’ve always loved animals since my next-door-neighbour, Wendell Grasse, was a veterinarian himself. I used to go over to his house when I was young and help his feed, brush, and groom his horses. I also had a huge collection of stuffed dogs, which I still have.

The Vet College. . .

The A.V.C.’s first class was in 1986. When you’re a student there, you spend the first two years at the university (in classes), and finally on your third year, you work with the vets on the job. The A.V.C. is my dog, Oliver’s, clinic. We go there every year for his yearly needles, and check-up. In the future, I plan to become a vet! I also volunteer at the Humane Society, and am hoping to be a part of the A.V.C. Vet Camp this summer!

Vet Camp. . .

The A.V.C. has a “Vet Camp” every year in late July since 1999. This vet camp is a one-of-a-kind for teens in Jr. High from ages 12-14. Teenagers come from across Canada to participate! This summer I’m applying, too! The A.V.C. Vet Camp offers experience into the World of veterinarians. From large and small animal surgeries, to giving exotic animals check-ups, this camp gives you a hands-on adventure! The theme for this year still hasn’t been announced, if you want to apply, you should do so after Christmas. There’s one problem, though: So many teens apply, names have to be drawn from a hat, so there’s no guarantee that you’ll get in.

The Yearly Open House. . .

This year Heather and I went to the annual “Vet College Open House”. It was on Saturday, September, 27 (my dad’s birthday) from 10-2. The open house had many different stations all over the large animal hospital including: a mini zoo, where you could pet snakes, ferrets, dogs, and more! There was a teddy-bear clinic for kids where you could give your teddy a pretend check-up. Also, there was “clicker training” for dogs, and information stations where you could look through microscopes and read-up on different topics. The A.V.C. Open House gives people a chance to see what it’s like “behind the scenes” of the veterinary college. The Atlantic Vet College open house is not only the largest, but also the most successful in Atlantic Canada.

Just wanted to say Oliver's birthday is November, 1, and he's turning the big "3". We got him a sailor outfit (for halloween only, no, we're not crazy haha), a fuzzy squeaky ball, and a mini fuzzy slipper to squeak and chew on. Happy Birthday! Luv your sista Oliver!

Hello everyone!

My favorite out of these would be the Great Pyrenees, and yes, Koda is half that, but that is not the only reason. I just think that this breed is great! Even if they may look big and scary, they love kids! Koda also loves the snow, climbing, going for walks (especially in the woods), and he's very smart and easy to train. The only thing I don't like about this breed is that if you want there coat to stay nice you have to brush it every day! But other than that, I think this breed is great!

Do you buckle up your dog in the car?

My answer is my dogs don't ride in the car. But the one (or two) times one of my dogs did, no, he was not buckled up or restrained or any thing. But now I know that it is just as important for dogs and cats as it is humans. So I reccomend you do, but answer what you have been doing.
