I have to agree with DagonHounds and rainsmom. Your GR being 'huge' is not a reason to breed her! You would purposely breed mixed breed puppies because he is loving? Do you know how many loving dogs are in shelters, desperately needing a home? I do not mean to sound rude, but we do not need anymore "I just want her to have one litter" puppies! Please do not breed your dog! There is absolutely no medical or 'emotional' reason to allow it!

We bought an AKC golden, even met the parents, my puppy was supposedly the runt. She was normal size at 10 weeks, but by 5 months, my Vet was sure she'd be 100 pounds.

Is anyone aware of any problems in health, or otherwise when they grow so much bigger than usual? I am a believer that female dogs should have one litter, so I intend to breed her this summer. One litter, than we'll get her spayed. She is 2 and a half now, my Vet feels her hips, and eyes, are perfect (he was concerned being so big, she'd have eyelash problems?) I am not out to make a buck, just let my dog be a Mom. Can anyone help me with what I look for in the Father dog? We just want happy family pets, and plan to sell them affordable to the average family.

I am not a dog breeder, but have raised 3 litters in the last 15 years. In the past, the Daddy dog lived on our lane. This is the 1st time, I have actually planned a litter.

Please, please, please, PLEASE spay your dog and do not breed her. Dogs are not people, they don't care whether they are mothers or not, you will be bringing un-tested, un-proven, un-needed dogs into this world.

Please stop breeding unless you start showing. Every BYB pup you needlessly pump out is one less that gets adopted from a shelter. I'm sorry if it sounds harsh, but there's nothing extraordinary about your dog that needs to be preserved. You won't be bettering your breed. There are lots of dogs out there already that need homes. Really, please please don't breed your female dog.
