I was watching an episode of Dog Whisperer on youtube and this lady had a mixed breed who kept jumping and shadow always liked jumping on the counter and over the fence. Well the Ceser Millan (sp his name) slapped the dog on the butt and said NO or something like that and the dog stopped. It was a short clip. So when Shadow would jump I would giver her a little whack (not hard) and she stopped. People think its curel to hit a dog, its not cruel if you do it the right way. If you do it hard and out of spite, then its cruel but if your doing it to teach them and if you don't hit hard then it isn't cruel.

| To all of you out there with new puppies of ANY breed...EARLY AND HEAVY SOCIALIZATION AND TRAINING is the best tip ever. Get your dog used to everything you possibly can, even things you may not think are necessary. You will end up with a well rounded dog who can handle things without undo aggression. Good luck to all. (PS don't forget to love your dog, even if he/she fails...keep at it)

we did all that.
Then our DOberman was attacked from 5 month old to all the way to 4 years old.
Now when he sees a dog, he wants to get a piece of it.
Can you blame him?
I am not.
Our Dogs are not spoiled,we're just well trained

| How awful !!!! No, I don't blame you OR the dog. My previous Rottie hated people. I was his 8th and last person. Most of his previous owners were macho idiots that would egg him on to people. He just got to the point where he couldn't bring himself to trust anyone outside the family. He could only be walked in the middle of the night, could only go out double collared and leashed, etc. I loved him with all my heart. Towards the end of his life, during his cancer, he began to branch out and trust the employees of the verterinary practice I use. It's unfortunate because he missed out on all sorts of fun activities. at least you did all the right things with your dog, it's so sad that he had to be attacked that way.
