| I am going to be getting another dog about next June. I have researched a lot of different breeds and I think I have found one that is right for me. I will be living in an appartment when I get the dog for two years while I am finishing college. I want a large dog, with good temperment and is good with other animals as I also have a cat and two horses. So I am thinking about an old english sheepdog. The dog will get excersized daily even if I have to wake up an hour earlier to take him/her for a run and I am thinking about training him/her to be a therepy dog to hospitals or hospices on the weekends so that the dog will have a job that I can do along with him. Coat maintinance isnt a problem for me as I love to brush animals. I was just wondering if the old english sheepdog sounds like a good breed for me? If you are worried about the space the appartment is temperary while I am away at college then I will be moving back home to my parents small farm.

Sonds like a great match! And it's good to hear that you are devoted to brush their hair because in the summer time the double coat is hot and a lot of work.One way to pass the time is brushing while waching T.V.Hope this help,

Yeah brushing hair is considered easy for me with the different things that I have had to help animals with on a daily basis lol.

is there anything else I should know about this breed?O.E.S. are a herding breed so it will have lots of energy, and will probably try to herd anything that moves! also their ear hair needs to be plucked to prevent ear infections. when you brush make sure you brush to the skin to prevent mats. good luck with getting a pup! I think as long as you are willing to put in the time and effort needed it would be a good breed for you.

Yeah I figured that they would have a lot of energy especially as a pup lol. But I like high energy animals and love to put their minds to work as well.
